Meeting called to order @ 8:44 PM by President Tom Lines

Secretary Report: Approved as sent out.

Treasurer Report: Approved as read.

Old Business:

Executive Council Update: Next meeting in Pierre on July 17. Spearfish won the bid for Conference 2015. A change to the Constitution has been suggested. This would allow Societies within SDEMTA to have voting rights for the Society president and Vice-President. This requires a vote by the membership to change.

Training Officer Update: Chad Skiles.

Both January EMT-B classes are done and the accelerated class is coming up soon.

EMT-Responder class starting in Tea on June 1. Classes are Tuesday – Thursday and some Saturdays. This is the new name for the previously First Responder class. This class is currently not recognized by the state. They will test you out, but have nothing in place for recertification. As SDEMTA members, we are asking people to plead with the State to rewrite the necessary rules to get these people covered under the law, as are EMT-B’s. Bob Graf was never receptive to this idea, but now we have a new Director who can make this change possible.

Mini-conference May 22.

One fall EMT-B class is booked, one slot is still available if any service is interested.

VP is looking for Service of the Year and EMT of the Year nominations. They can be sent in anytime from now till the deadline.

EMT of the Year – To the EC by July 1.

Service of the Year – To VP Gary by July 1.

Conference Scholarship – To Cal by August 1.

Nobody else is going to toot your horn for you.

New Business: District II July meeting moved to July 24 due to Executive Council Meeting conflict.

District II August Banquet will be at Chasers, in the area of 12^th & Marion Rd. Social at 6 PM, Dinner @ 6:30 PM.

Lunch for June is Gary.

Tom brought up the idea of doing something other than monthly meetings.

How do we get more people involved in District meetings so we have more clout with the state?

No regular meeting in October, meeting will be at Conference.

Last month Chad had an idea for a new logo and patch for the Association. The State President liked that idea and had it on the EC agenda. Read your EMT Thoughts for more info. I guess someone does read these minutes.
